I saw Gavin, and he was extremely capable. He understood exactly what I was looking for, was great at taking feedback, and left me with my favorite haircut I've had in a long time. The price was completely reasonable, and booking online was super easy too. I'll be going back!

This place is awesome. Got an appointment in less than 30 minutes when enjoying Old Port. Gavin was incredible. Literally the friendliest barber I have ever met. His heavy music records on his wall already convinced me that I was in the right place. More importantly he explained what he was doing while doing it. I walked in debating if i should wait to get a cut once im home and im so happy I went with my gut on this place. The price is so worth it. This was one of the best haircuts I got!

Excellent barbershop! I've been lucky enough to be "stuck" working in Portland for almost a month. I originally left my review to just say the shop was excellent bc I didn't have time to leave a more detailed review. I have been to Arthur "Art" twice now and intend on going back once more before I have to go back home to Savannah. The level of talent among all of their barbers and stylists is obvious when you walk in the door. Also do yourself a service and get a shave! The scented hot towels are incredible!! I have never received such a crisp cut and I am so disappointed I can't take this barbershop home with me!

Not only is Momentum the best shop because of all 10 of their incredible employees talents, but also give back to the community! My mentally ill brother has been stuck at Maine Med since Dec 2025 and needed a buzz bad! After working all day, Marcel went to Doug's hospital room at 6:30 p.m., buzzed his 4"s overgrown hair and trimmed his eyebrows that were so long he couldn't see! AND, he wouldn't let me pay him or give him a tip! His kindness during these trials are God's blessings! Thank you, Marcel and Momentum staff 👏🙌🫶

Alex Ward is one of the best barbers I've had in my life! I've gotten traditional trims from him and he's done trendier fades with my hair. He listens to what I want but takes liberties that suit my hair type and head shape, so I end up looking sharp. Day after vs day before w/ Alex

I made a same day appointment and they had a slot exactly when I needed one. $45 for a haircut and beard trim. Very cool laid back vibe. Lots of jokes and very good music. The experience of getting the cut was actually fun—mostly because my barber was Marie and she is super nice and actually damn cool. The cut itself was fire. At the jump I gave a brief vague description of what I wanted and Marie effortlessly understood what I meant and then meticulously made it happen. Will definitely be going back to her. Lol, I can’t believe I’m writing a review, but, like, they killed it.

Got my hair cut a few times and am typically a pain when it comes to deciding what I want, but I tried a different barber out and all I can say is that Gavin is the man 💯💯 I will definitely be getting my haircut by him again! Hair cut was 35, left him 50. Good stuff over here.

Got a hair cut here a few weeks back. To be honest I never get it professionally done because I’ve been messed up so many times, but my uncle recommended it. The kid that cut my hair here KILLED it. 10/10 Deff coming back. It’s a vibe in there too whoever decorated kept it clean, classy and sleek.

I’ve been going to Jay for the past 4 years. With hundreds of customers, Jay still remembers exactly how my cut goes every time. He’s always on time and has only ever had to postpone one time on me. The atmosphere in the shop is upbeat, the conversations are always flowing around the room. Music is usually on and soccer or racing is on the TV in the background. Pricing is more than fair for the high quality cut I get every time. Highly recommend this shop for any type of cuts and shaves!

First time at Momentum Barbershop and had a great experience. Alex was my barber and he did a wonderful job, stepped up my style compared to my normal stylist in another state. The shop was clean, organized and a really cool vibes! If you're in downtown Portland and need a haircut, I definitely recommend seeing Alex and checking this place out!
